Does a country HAVE to be a NATO member to be protected? I mean i have thoughts, that when Russia started their BULLSHIT, what would have happened IF Every NATO country Dropped troops into the Ukraine BEFORE the Russians invade? I CANNOT believe little putin would want to go nuclear, because he has too good a life style! Thoughts?

I'm reminded of a 1980's wargame which simulated a conventional war between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Addressing the question, "shouldn't this also simulate the use of nuclear weapons?" the rules said "to simulate the addition of nuclear weapons to this conflict, soak the map in gasoline and light a match".

I mean we should have gone in BEFORE the attack took place. When Russia started surrounding the Ukraine we shoulkd have made our move. To PROTECT the Ukrainians. ( That's what meant to say).

substantial American casualties, at which point we'd be attempting to reinforce them, which the Russians would try to stop...

Look. I get it. What Putin is doing is horrible. But sometimes the cost of trying to prevent something horrible from happening can be even worse (WW III comes to mind). And in any case, the cow has left the barn. We should impose every sanction we can, but we're not going to go to war with Russia over a non-NATO country.

But they aren't going to go offensive and start marching into Russia. If Putin likes Moscow he won't go nuclear. Ours are better and we have a better chance of intercepting his.

evoking nuclear strikes actually realize what a nuclear bomb does? With a large bomb, much of Europe would be unlivable. A small targeted one would destroy major parts of cities, such as its financial center. Many deaths and displaced people. Please don't be so cavalier with nuclear destruction.
