Not going to absolve the driver, but there were other things going on and who knows what he was thinking.

(1,904 posts)Shooting it I could understand. VBIED's are a thing. While in Iraq, we used to shoot vehicles heading directly towards our patrols and convoys because of the VBIED risk. There would be warnings of course before hand in most cases. But in the middle of already getting ambushed, nope, no warnings. Car heading directly at our position, while we are already taking fire, is getting lit up. But running possible vbied over is not exactly the smartest choice, so I would lean towards the driver did it on purpose just to be a dick.

(7,068 posts)deliberately engaged a destroyed a civilian vehicle that was not an obvious threat. This kind of stuff is really going to hurt the Russians overall, IMO.
