Brian Laundrie Killed Gabby Petito. A New Lawsuit Alleges His Parents Knew All Along
(Rolling Stone) Petito’s parents have sued Laundrie’s parents, alleging that they knew full well their son killed their daughter and ignored their pleas for answers.
The parents of Gabby Petito have filed a lawsuit against the parents of Brian Laundrie, claiming that they already knew their son had killed Petito while she was still missing and accusing the Laundries of helping Brian elude investigators. In the lawsuit, filed Thursday at a Sarasota County, Florida circuit court, Petito’s parents Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt accuse Christopher and Roberta Laundrie’s “shocking, atrocious and utterly intolerable” actions of causing them to “suffer pain and suffering, mental anguish” and the “loss of capacity for enjoyment of life.” snip However, the most damning accusation — and the basis for the lawsuit — is the Petito family’s claim that Brian informed his parents of Gabby’s death on Aug. 30, the day after it occurred. On Sept. 2, the lawsuit alleges, the Laundrie family put lawyer Steven Bertolino on retainer. “While Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt were desperately searching for information concerning their daughter, [the Laundries] were keeping the whereabouts of Brian Laundrie secret, and it is believed they were making arrangements for him to leave the country,” the lawsuit alleges. 7. But they and everyone has a right to legal advice, and obtaining and listening to their lawyer
was the smart thing to do given their son was a likely suspect. Unless they acted in bad faith with their own lawyer, they probably did everything legally required of them. Without a smoking gun, I think the case will be hard to prove.

2. The game plan for the Laundries seemed to be,...
... have Brian lay low for a few weeks,...
... then everyone would forget the particulars of the case,.. .... then Brian could resume his dating life in the quest to locate Ms. Right for his life long companion. |

3. That police video haunts me. Pulled over by the cops, she sobs "I'm fine, I'm fine."
Doesn’t stop sobbing and shaking the whole time. The cops do not separate the couple. The cops do not — well, they did diddly squat to save her life.

6. early reporting and police reports
indicate that Gabby was perhaps the aggressor in that incident (although both were clearly participants). The single 'witness' reported her striking him - while thinking he had perhaps 'shoved' (or something similar) 'the woman.' Gabby was also blaming some of the incident on her (OCD) and behavior. The LE on the scene could have conceivably arrested both - but with the information they had at the time it would have been a stretch to arrest just Laundrie. Moab police then further insisted that the couple separate for the night - with Laundrie checking into a motel and Petito staying with the the camper/van.
Dude turned out to be a dirtbag - (not to mention running to mommy and daddy like a little punk) ... But, hind sight and all that ... |

4. Glad to know this is being done.
The parents are obviously accessories after the fact or something like that. I want to know why Brian flew home for a week without Gabby and moved a ton of stuff in a storage unit before going back to be with Gabby.

5. The tragedy continues. I don't wonder what I'd do when the worst
happens to others with no clear, good path that will make everything right as possible. Just be sorry for what they're going through.

8. I always thought the parents knew more than they were saying.
Understandable given it was their son but I am happy the Petito family is doing this. The truth needs to come out.
