I assume this is the result of Covid lockdowns.

(17,304 posts)If China stopped shipping to the US, then our store shelves would be empty in two weeks. It is a terrible strategic position to be in. We became a super-power based upon our industrial capacity and that has been sold off to the lowest bidders. We have traded security in order to create a few billionaires and a mass of Americans that struggle, day to day, to keep their heads above water. Shuttering our factories was a self-inflicted wound, and we pay the economic and social consequences every day.
When you all make me king of the country, I will return factories and jobs to the country no matter how many apple carts I have to turn over to do it. (kings can do that kind of thing) I also have a plan to tax 95% of the income of people who's yearly income exceeds four times the national average, but that is another story.

(38,958 posts)Which is one of the worlds busiest ports. The affects will take time to work through the system but I suspect that come late summer and into the Christmas season prices will go up even more as goods become more difficult to find. It the short term it will likely help ease the backlog at US ports, but that isnt necessarily a good thing long term.

(42,653 posts)Personally I've a light inventory of filters, belts, gaskets and the like, whereas before I had no inventory.
Shoes are a good idea too, if you can find value in the new, lighter, cheaper and still same price shoes. I'm not finding much inventory in the stores.
