The North County Police Cooperative reports that there was a shoot-out on Friday, May 27, that left three people injured after a person open carrying an AR-15 was robbed at gunpoint.
The individual went inside Wellston Food Market on 6250 Page Avenue open carrying the semi-automatic rifle, but did not use it in a threatening manner and left the store. Outside of the store, shortly before 3 p.m., an adult male confronted the individual, brandished a weapon and demanded the AR-15.
The individual handed over the assault-style rifle, but then went to a vehicle and retrieved another gun. A shootout ensued. Two innocent bystanders were struck during the shootout, and the adult male who had initiated the robbery was struck several times by gunfire. According to police reports, the robbery victim left the scene and then another male returned moments later and shot the individual who had initially taken the rifle.
When police arrived on the scene, they found an adult male with several gunshot wounds lying in front of the store in critical condition. Reports say the bystanders were not critically injured.

(7,638 posts)The person was wounded and will go to the hospital and maybe survive, then we get a trial were no doubt there will be a plea. Probably gun charges dropped. We'll pay for his stay at a prison then rinse and repeat. Another fun day in GunMurka

from the fact that the robber was shooting bad well; which means they would be open to a lawsuit just the same (regardless of punishment from the law).
Just seemed strange to mention only one of the people involved in the shootout as should be sued. Maybe the robbers bullets were more safe and the poster didnt feel they are sue worthy.

(7,638 posts)And his wealth is in question because, well he was robbing people. Don't see how suing a person that is a gun toting loser to begin with will make a difference in GunMurka. He'll do his time, purchase another cheap unregistered gun and rinse and repeat. Fun time in GunMurka.

Sorry for the bystanders however, unless they are Republicans.

(5,753 posts)They didn't go around intimidating people with their penis substitutes and they didn't shoot bystanders indiscriminately.
I think the fucking gun fetishists somehow think that if everyone was carrying - like the "wild west" - then people would respect each other. My question is: why would the presence of a killing machine suddenly install respect in people who have none to begin with? Society today is a hell of a lot different. People are different.
And what the FUCK does anyone need with an AR15 while grocery shopping??

Upset he was late to the mugging?
What is that guy's motivation. He shows up, some guy has been shot, and he figures the guy needs more shooting?

(38,264 posts)In my community "open carry" is mostly illegal. Only law enforcement and a few heavily regulated private security agents are allowed to openly carry guns.
The typical open carry fool would quickly lose their gun here, and maybe their life, to the police or some young gangster looking to make a name for themselves.
Years ago one of our neighbors inexplicably brought a gun to a local fast food place. The employees called the police who shot and killed the guy when he started arguing with them.
It's always a bad idea to advertise one's gun love here. That's taken as an open invitation to burglars. They're not stupid. They'll watch your house and break in when nobody is home. Another neighbor lost his entire safe full of guns that way. The thieves broke into the house, opened the garage door, drove their stolen truck in, closed the garage door, wrestled the gun safe into the truck, opened the door and vanished. The truck and broken safe, minus the guns it had contained, were later found abandoned.
"Open carry" is a kind of cosplay that's only practiced in places where it's safe to do so. It's not the guns that make such places safe, whatever gun fetishist pretend. Guns always make a place more dangerous than it would otherwise be. The answer to serious social problems is never "more guns!"
