Trump held his rally that morning. He and others got the crowd riled up. That was planned. Pence was scheduled to verify the votes about 1pm.
Trump planned and sent the crowd to the capital to fight about 1pm. That was planned.
Shortly before Trump sent the crowd to the capital. A group of oath keepers and proud boys were at the Washington Monument and they moved towards the capital. There is a video of this. Some of these oath keepers and proud boys may have been the ones who have been charged with seditious conspiracy. Some of them are talking to the DOJ, telling all.
All of this was not an accident. It was planned and coordinated. It was a conspiracy to over throw the government. The committee is going to prove it.
I believe the DOJ already has evidence to tie the oath keepers and proud boys to people who planned the coup. Time will tell if I am right. We do know through video, Stone, Jones were hanging out with the oath keepers, proud boys. That was not an accident. That was part of the conspiracy.
Hang on tight, It's going to be a hell of a ride. This is not an investigation that is going to quietly fade away.

(9,593 posts)The T-shirts were ALREADY printed. I know that theres quick turnaround T-shirt printing places but those shirts were planned and printed before the 6th.

(9,593 posts)they are still available. I always wondered just when those Civil War shirts got printed. Was it the morning of the 6th? A week before? A month? January 6th was planned beforehand theses shirts are just one clue.

(11,853 posts)and how many (tens, hundreds, thousands...). Even a small operation such as a single person/small group going through a place like Zazzle would take a few days to a week or so to receive it. It's possible someone had some printing contacts that could move it faster, but I think you'd be hard pressed even doing it yourself on a home printer to get a design printed, ironed on, and distributed even to a few people, the morning of the 6th.

(9,946 posts)Trump concocted the Big Lie. He hatched the coup plot. He was the one who benefited from overturning the election. And, most importantly, it was all done at his behest.
The whole point of this 18-month-long investigation is to present clear evidence of Trump's culpability. And once these facts are presented, the DOJ must indict and prosecute Trump. No excuses.

He initiated -- "We gotta do something." Others orchestrated it.
Do you think he really understood how the certification process is supposed to work? And that his muddled brain came up with the idea of fake electors?
Telephone call to Georgia -- O.K., all I need is 11 thousand votes. Get him on the phone. It works in Chicago for the Democrats.
I don't buy the idea Trump is a dummy and was duped. People close to Trump likely tried to dissuade him, but he would have none of it. Trump was the driving force behind everything.

(21,146 posts)But Trump did not (and still doesn't) know anything about how the US government functions. I believe that he had others come up with necessary details that would help him form a plan, then participated in tweaking the plan to his liking.

(58,785 posts)people for the details, a lot smarter than he had apparently. It really was a Massively F-Ued Mess as inside coups go. I wonder if the kind of washouts working to make it happen might have pulled it off anyway, though, if The Greatest Micromanager of All (in his own mind) didn't weigh in whenever and however he felt like it.
One thing, tRump's been creating and dodging legal liability for decades and in spite of his extreme incompetence does know something about that. It seems possible that he could have taken penalties for conspiracy seriously enough that he managed to maintain sufficient degree of separation to make it hard to charge and convict him. After all, a case to convict a president half the nation supported (and thus themselves) has to be very tight.
If not, unfortunate, but our first and last job here is to save the democracy they could still destroy.

(7,759 posts)was because he was "warned" of Trump's January 6 incendiary speech..a series of not so subtle threats: Pence is either a good guy or a really bad guy...the mob had their pre-planned marching orders: terrify the VP into nullifying the election or get him out of the way.."only you can do it".
the J6 committee is tasked with telling the "story" of a depraved corrupt power hungry mad man determined to hold on to power no matter the cost..it's the "story of Trump's enablers who were determined to make that happen...January 6 was the end not the beginning...

(9,670 posts)The media will stick a microphone in every MAGA face in the coming days to hear "their side". We cannot focus on that. We shouldn't give a shit. We only care about the MAGA that is turned by the hearings. I honestly don't want OP after OP condemning what this MAGA said or that MAGA said. They won't be watching. They are already brainwashed. That damage won't easily be undone. So quit fretting. We WILL turn independents. There WILL be a reckoning. The truth WILL set us free....from the looming grip of fascism.

(2,486 posts)Trump could blame the riot on Antifa and invoke the insurrection act. In the melee, with Pence removed one way or another, they would throw the election to the House. The reason certain top DOD officials (likely Trumps last minute replacements following the election) had armed troops guarding their homes was that they anticipated the blowback of widespread protests and riots across the country, and especially in D.C.
