An arsenal of weapons, several small explosive devices and thousands of rounds of ammunition were found in a Warren house that was the site of an explosion Saturday afternoon, police said, and the victim was in critical condition Sunday.
The explosion, which took place at around 3:10 p.m. Saturday, started in the garage and spread to the rest of the house on the 20700 block of Gentner Street, according to Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer.
Warren police officers and firefighters investigate a garage explosion in the 20700 block of Gentner with damage to the house along 8 Mile Road in Warren, Saturday afternoon, June 11, 2022.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital after sustaining severe injuries, including losing both arms. It was unclear Sunday whether he would survive, Dwyer said.
The man, who Dwyer said had an extensive criminal background involving weapons charges and manufacturing of explosive items, was under investigation prior to the explosion.

It was an accident and the state owes him a living of course.

(64,413 posts)We now know the answer to "What could go wrong?"
I wouldn't want to manufacture explosives in my house, and i actually know how!
I even spent time on an ACS council on manufacturing explosives, looking for ways to maximize safety & incident prevention.
I still wouldn't try it at home.
This guy was quite the idiot. (Well, if he's still alive, he's still an idiot.)

(16,138 posts)Authorities said Michael Liburdi, 38, was under federal investigation for firearms
Police executing a search warrant of the residence found one dozen rifles, a large amount of AR-15-style semi-automatic rifles, small explosive devices, and 4,000 rounds of ammunition among other firearms and materials in the house
..explosion took place in the garage, and then a fire spread into the two-story house.
Liburdis criminal record includes arrests for marijuana possession, possession of dangerous weapons, operating while impaired, resisting arrest and forgery.
Liburdi was featured in a 2016 Detroit News story analyzing how former President Donald Trump won election primarily on the support of white, working class voters. He said he still considers himself a Democrat with Libertarian leanings.
lt was the lesser of two evil-isms, Liburdi was quoted as saying. I dont expect anything magical from any politician. He has limited power like any president, but I think he can stop those trade agreements and stop jobs leaving the country.

Maybe he was smoking around all that gun powder. Anyone who voted for Trump can't be all that smart.
