A Covid - Alzheimer's parallel? Looks like it!

This is quite fascinating.

Australian researchers find parallels between Alzheimer’s and long-COVID ‘brain fog’

https://www.smh.com.au/national/australian-researchers-find-parallels-between-alzheimer-s-and-long-covid-brain-fog-20220614-p5atnp.html

“Brain fog” has emerged as one of the most debilitating symptoms of long COVID, affecting thousands of people globally, impeding their ability to work and function in daily life.

Now, a group of Australian scientists believe they are closer to unlocking the mystery behind the lingering neurological condition, which can trigger memory loss, confusion, dizziness and headaches, and leave people grasping to recall everyday words.

The findings of their study, published this week in Nature Communications, suggest there may be distinct parallels between the effects of COVID-19 on the brain and the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

As part of the study, the researchers – led by Dr Nick Reynolds from the Institute for Molecular Science at Melbourne’s La Trobe University – used computer algorithms to identify small fragments of proteins (called peptides) in SARS-CoV-2.

The "Looks like it!" kinda ruins the uncertain effect of the "?" don't you think? Act_of_Reparation Jun 2022 #7

The study shows "parallels" between the symptoms of Covid and Alzheimer's. That is not a link between the two.

With the "If it makes you fell better line" as is the second line. Just try to post factual info and stop with that crap. And it was misleading, despite your claim and a writer who doesn't understand links.

There is nothing - zero - in the article indicating a connection or even the possibility that they are linked. Your response makes it seem that you may have misled on purpose. Perhaps hoping for a connection for some weird reason?

You're using the literal definition of the word whereas I'm using it in the conversational sense. You're issue is one of context.

between covid and alzheimer's if covid can give you the same symptoms as alzheimer's?

This is why I continue to mask up and don't listen to folk who say its okay to go on and about your business because you're vaccinated.

I don't want Alzheimer's ... or Covid!
