(203,033 posts)Or anyone else's who he will never know?! We all have different health issues - and I consider anyone else's - those I will never know - none of my business, so why in hell is it any business of Samuel Alito??

(203,033 posts)Like Senator Murphy and others have said, I would have thought that Sandy Hook would have been the end of the conversation! But it's been 10 years! And it keeps happening! I would have expected immediate and decisive action - as happened in New Zealand - I really don't get it.

(203,033 posts)Yes, I agree, we need to arm our military - they are issued and trained on the use of weapons of war. But we've seen - over ad over - what happens if untrained angry 18-year-olds have access to them. The repeal of the Assault Weapons Ban should never have happened. We've seen the results. And if we're going to take action on anything, that should be a priority. But instead, they've sentenced innocent women to death, those that have ectopic or non viable pregnancies!

(127,314 posts)Just like Emmett Till's mother's decision to have an open-casket viewing of what was left of her son after he was lynched and that was in 1955.
It took 67 years AFTER that for Congress to finally pass an anti-lynching bill to make lynching a federal crime after over a century of effort.
H.R.55 - Emmett Till Antilynching Act

(203,033 posts)Good Grief! Here we finally got rid of TFG, but his legacy lives on to make our lives miserable. And I don't just mean the lack of gun restrictions or, horrifically, Roe v. Wade - but I read a thread earlier about motorists targeting protesters with their cars. After Charlottesville and the horrific death of Heather Heyer - in her latest book, Mary Trump said they've passed what she calls "hit and kill" bills - which now make targeting protesters legal!

(127,314 posts)and I do recall some states actually allowing that type of anti-protest criminality.
This is what happens when apathetic people don't believe the depth and depravity that the GOP has descended to and dismiss it as "hyperbole" or "just political rhetoric", and that allows their evil to take over. But by then, it's too late.
They sat out the state elections for years and trying to claw back the sanity is now even harder to do.
