24. Miller and Cipollone are not going down for Trump..
they can obfuscate but they will not lie under oath knowing their testimony is playing out in public thanks to the J6 committee hearings...and I bet there are witnesses who would put truth to their lies if in fact they plead the 5th or claim selective amnesia..

4. Trump thought Miller would back up his claims of having troops on standby..
The Committee just shot down his hopes.

6. The problem TFG has in trying to lie about this
is the sheer scope of having 10,000 troops "at the ready". The number of people, from the SecDef on down to squad leaders, who would be involved in that order is HUGE. If he didn't actually give that order, it's impossible to lie about it.

13. The other problem...
National Guard troops only have police powers inside their states. The second a National Guard unit crosses the state line, it’s subject to Posse Comitatus.
The DC National Guard only has 2700 members. Not only did Trump not call out 10,000 or 20,000 or whatever it is this week members of the National Guard, he didn’t have that many to call out in the first place. |

27. Only the Guard can do policing
This is why we have both the Army Reserve and the National Guard.

7. If Trump had given an order to have 10,000 troops ready, it would have been to support
the insurrection, not stop it. He planned to declare martial law but had no clue about the logistics involved in doing so. Trump is too ignorant of the real world to know more than how to order someone to do things for him.

8. Bingo!
I still believe that is why Trump was taken out of the DC Guard chain of command on Jan 4, to prevent him from using the Guard to stop certification of the vote.

10. Exactly
I think there was a hairbrained scheme to use friendly allies in the military like Flynn’s brother in the pentagon and others we may never know about to help Trump steal the presidency.

21. "....10,000 troops ready.... to support the insurrection, not stop it." Wow, it just hit me.
There is evidence for that somewhere. Either witness testimony or "CYA" meeting notes, but it may well come to this. An attempt to over throw the government by military coup may ultimately be the only case against Trump that CAN'T remain unprosecuted. It is perhaps a trail of clues to this "unimaginable" crime which has our Garland off beating the bushes in an apparent delay to prosecute Trump.
The whole concept that Trump would attempt to have thousands of US military personnel assigned to keep him in power is much too in-line with his modus operandi to not be true. Which means there are potentially multiple people in uniform who knew Trump was talking about a coup whose testimony hasn't, yet, been released. This is all a great laughable theory, of course, and pretty whacky but there was a time when the very idea that an asshole like Donald Fucking Trump would be elected president of the USA was untenable for the most well informed and laughable to the rest of us. |

16. Before Miller's 1/4/21 letter to the D.C. National Guard the D.C. National Guard had the autonomy ..
.... to respond to things like the 1/6/21 attempted coup/violent attack on the US Capitol on
their own but Miller stopped that and how did Miller on 1/4/21 know to write about "riot control agents?" Trump fired Sec. of Defense Esper right after he lost the election and installed Miller in his stead. |

18. It could have been SO much worse if the last minute chess pieces in Defense
Installed by Trump had a lot more understanding of how their department sections actually functioned and the rules surrounding those functions. He pretty much thought those people were interchangeable.

22. What an odd blessing....... and from such an unexpected construct.
Our "Byzantine" and labyrinthian chain of command prevents the Commander in Chief from being able to command the army to overthrow the government. Whoddathunkit?
