COLUMBUS, Ohio — Sen. Sherrod Brown has hired a former communications aide to manage his 2024 reelection campaign, a major formal step toward preparing for what’s expected to be one of the country’s most closely watched Senate races.
Rachel Petri, who served as a media spokesperson for Brown’s successful 2018 reelection campaign, will be Brown’s campaign manager for next year’s race, Brown announced. Petri most recently worked as deputy campaign manager for U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock’s hotly contested reelection campaign in Georgia last year.
Petri also previously worked in Brown’s official Senate office, and is a St. Clairsville native and Miami University alum.
“Rachel is a daughter of eastern Ohio who understands the Dignity of Work and knows what it takes to win tough races, including in Ohio,” Brown said in a statement. “Rachel has spent her entire career fighting for working families and this race will be no different. Connie and I are confident that under Rachel’s leadership we’ll show voters we’re on their side and win next November.”
