I've lived thru a lot of SOTUs...
...and I don't remember any Dem cat-calling a President during the SOTU address.
If anybody knows of an incidence, please let me know.

1. I said the same thing. No one has named a Dem yet. The classiest rebuke of a GOP Pres was
Nancy tearing up the copy of Trump's speech in front of the world. Hard but classy!

2. RWNJ's (right wing nut jobs) will point to Pelosi ripping up Trump's speech...
But I cannot recall specific verbal outbursts during the SOTU from the Democrats to rival what we sa and heard last night.
Then again, I can't recall any RWNJ's actually paying a price for being petulant children either, or at least not since the dawn of the racist as hell "Tea Party" nonsense in 2010 and later... |

6. Yeah, republicans will never let that
one go, but that is probably because it is all they've got.

3. Are you sure it was a cat?
Is that what it was? I thought it was dog calling.

7. Thanks for the example. I'd say it's on a par with clapping...
...in this case showing displeasure,
and.. NOT catcalling. |

8. There have been applause vs. boos in SOTUs as far back as I can remember.
The issue here is individual outbursts, and the first I remember of the sort was Joe Wilson during one of Obama's SOTU speeches.
If you can remember a Democrat doing anything of the sort or even personally getting into a back-and-forth with a Republican president giving the SOTU, give us a name. |

11. Joe Wilson's "You lie!" wasn't during a SOTU.

13. It was during a similar presidential speech during a similar Joint Session of Congress.
A distinction without a difference in regard to the overall point I was making.
Back to my question: can you name any Democrats that have made similar personal outbursts during SOTUs or other presidential speeches before a joint session of Congress? |

5. I asked my republican cousin this morning if he isn't embarrassed at the behavior of Marge
& her ilk & his words were, "It's unfortunate." Interestingly enough, those were his exact words back in 2021, when I asked him what he thought about the attack on the Capitol. I suspect that is the harshest criticism he will ever make about his party
![]() ![]() This is what we're up against. They believe no matter how bad a repub is, the dem is worse. In every case. The best we can hope for is that they don't vote. |

9. That is truly sad
Remaining loyal to the bitter end, even when their better judgment tells them to let it go and move on. Defending the indefensible, excusing the inexcusable and ignoring the obvious. I wonder what it would take for someone like your cousin to get fed up and leave the party.

That's unfortunate.

10. No, although I do remember...
Nancy Pelosi doing this:
