House GOP chairmen ask Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg to testify on Trump probe

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/house-gop-chairmen-ask-manhattan-d-a-alvin-bragg-to-testify-on-trump-probe/ar-AA18RdnG?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=47b0845ab8dd43b6bf2eda7c4d409187&ei=12

WASHINGTON — Three House Republican committee chairmen on Monday called on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to testify before Congress "about what plainly appears to be a politically motivated prosecutorial decision" in any potential indictment of former President Donald Trump in the prosecutor's hush-money probe, according to a letter sent to Bragg

"You are reportedly about to engage in an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the indictment of a former president of the United States and current declared candidate for that office," the letter, obtained by NBC News, says. It comes ahead of a pending New York grand jury decision in the case.

"This indictment comes after years of your office searching for a basis — any basis — on which to bring charges, ultimately settling on a novel legal theory untested anywhere in the country and one that federal authorities declined to pursue," they continued. "If these reports are accurate, your actions will erode confidence in the evenhanded application of justice and unalterably interfere in the course of the 2024 presidential election."

The letter was signed by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky.; and House Administration Chairman Bryan Steil, R-Wis.

I hope DA Alvin Bragg tells them to fuck off, he doesn't answer to them, he answers to the people of NY.

And then tell them to go to Hell.

Republicans are so evil and hypocritical it's astounding.

And then they start talking of Contempt of Congress charges ... then I'd say we could start getting into whether it's legally 'Obstruction of Justice', though even then there's effectively nobody who's going to charge the GOP members of a Congressional Committee for doing it.

They may not go after the congressmen for obstruction, but they aren't going to entertain any type of criminal referral ... so at least we got that going for us.

Which effectively means, Bragg can totally get away with telling these assholes to get stuffed, and I indeed hope he does

I can't recall law enforcement figures ever being legally forced to testify on a case that is pending.

Republican members of the Congress have zero authority over the office of the Manhattan District Attorney
Alvin Bragg and they trying to stop the enforcement of the laws of the State of N.Y. to protect a Russian
Asset* in Donald Trump.

in a letter without running afoul of any such charges.

This is not to say the 'obstructing justice' is not the effective intent, just that there's no statute that would cover this that would give a prosecutor 'cause' to seek that sort of charge for it.

This is just grandstanding for the Base for 2024, they ain't gonna DOOOO ... shit.

"reportedly" "unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority" "indictment of a former president" "indictment" "a novel legal theory" "federal authorities declined to pursue" "interfere in the course of the 2024 presidential election".

The basis for any of this wild speculation? Radio signals beamed through their fillings? Chicken entrails? Cloud formations? Hobgoblins jumping from one neural synapse to another? What are you nitwits talking about, anyway?

Ignore it. AND, don't forget to remind people that No Jacket DID ignore his own subpoena before Congress---just like he habitually ignored his OSU colleague, while said colleague sexually assaulted members of their wrestling team.
