Eek--may need free account to read, but here is the gist:
The Twitter account which was deleted Thursday night was open to the public and used the Newark National logo as its profile picture. The account was a mix of Poppiti's musings on sports and right-wing politics, but most of the comments in question came in response to posts by celebrities and news outlets.

(16,381 posts)I ended up coaching my daughters 7-10 year old fast-pitch softball team. It was her 1ST years of playing, and I got talked into doing it, because no one else wanted to.
There were only enough girls to form two teams. They would play each other every weeks for the season.
What I didn't know, was that when they did player selection, the other team was made up of girls that has played for sometime, had played before, or were considered better players. Seriously, the "leaders" of the League had kind of fixed things so my team would be the Washington Generals.
We lost the first 3 games badly. We used a pitching machine, and I discovered that I, as a coach, could sign it out for practice. We spent a day working on hitting and fielding, and the most important thing, holding the ball when it made it back to the infield and STOP THROWING IT ALL OVER THE PLACE
Our hitting, fielding and errors improved so much, we won the 4TH game. The next game, so many of the other teams players didn't show, we ended up loaning them some of our girls so they could field a team. We won that game too.
Our next practice consisted of sitting around eating Ice Cream Sundays.
Anyway, we ended up 4 and 8, but I saw that as a victory, since the League's goal was for us to go 0 and 12.
Point being, these were 7-10 year old girls and some of the coaches and adults were perfectly fine with cheating, or fixing the game. We even had a couple of parents fight at one game, and threw one out at another for yelling at the High School volunteer umpire.
Read a couple of years later that the guy who ran the Bingo game used for fundraising the Little League was arrested for fraud and embezzling funds.
Thankfully, my daughters took up the French Horn a year or so later and my Little League coaching days where over

Boy, was I wrong.
