The cartoonist is saying that "challenging Chump" is a seemingly hopeless task, but DeSantis will do it anyway. Just as Don Quixote tilted hopelessly at the windmills of Spain.

But this implies some kind of romantic admiration for DeSantis that really shouldn't be there. It's NOT that Chump deserves to be the candidate because he's the best choice. It's that he won't go away, ever - and the Grand Old Idiots Party won't summon the cohones to replace him with something better. Even if DeSantis were better - and he truly isn't - he'd never get the chance.

So it's hopeless, just like tilting at windmills.

He could go full on and criticize Trump for the same things Democrats do. But I guess that's like sleeping with the enemy? But if he painted Trump as a guy with "good ideas" but just not a winner and is in too much trouble with the law. Laws that he willingly broke. And coming off of an election that he definitely lost. If he just stuck to that, no matter the barrage of Trump and MAGA tweets back at him, he'd have a great shot with all the no-Trump independents who would immediately pivot to him. And as Trumps charges pile up, more and more Republican voters would begin to see why Trump may not be the best choice. But if the other choice is just another weak and bullied dweeb like DeSantis who stands there like an idiot as sand is being kicked in his face by his biggest rival, Republicans will always pick the biggest bully.

But shhhhhh don't tell him.
