Tina's husband's selfless act before her death

Janice Braden 🇺🇦 @JL_Braden
Two things are missing from the obituaries about #TinaTurner: her commitment to Buddhism, which she credited with saving her life, and this story of true abiding love which, imho, should bump all stories of her first husband. #Tina

4. Really amazing that his kidney was a match for her

Especially for a non-related person.

So glad she found the man of her dreams. We will miss the Queen.

7. Simply the Best

...Tina will be missed by many that lover her and her music.
A woman of strength and dignity. As beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.
The gift her husband gave her is truly a selfless act of true love.
A great loss to many. A queen in her own right.

She deserved all the happiness in the world after Ike and her struggle to earn a living after leaving him.

21. A good friend's sister gave her a kidney

Their mother was one of the longest surviving dialysis patients mostly because she is a medical doctor. Their entire family on their mother’s side have kidney problems.
Still by the time her mother died all her bones were brittle - if you touched her too hard you could break a bone. Not sure I’d want to live that way.

I can only imagine the support that he gave to her at the end as well. He must be so very sad.
Most photos taken of them they are almost always touching or holding hands.

23. She didn't treat her high blood pressure using conventional methods.

And damaged her kidneys as a result.

27. She wanted everyone to know of her mistake going off her high blood pressure meds:

I couldn't get that instagram but I found an article saying this:

Turner said she was open to a friend’s suggestion that she visit a homeopathic doctor in neighboring France. “I didn’t hesitate,” Turner wrote. “He replaced my conventional medication (with) homeopathic medicine. … I started feeling better after a while.”

Turner admitted she had not told her doctors about her homeopathic experiment, but was excited for an upcoming exam to see if the alternative medicine had reduced her blood pressure and improved her kidney function.

“Rarely in my life had I been so wrong,” Turner wrote. “I had not known that uncontrolled hypertension would worsen my renal disease and that I would kill my kidneys by giving up on controlling my blood pressure. …Thanks to my naivety I had ended up at the point where it was about life or death.”

I wasn't aware of the connection of HBP to kidney problems.

28. She deserves a lot of credit for sharing her experiences.

I have high blood pressure, and the treatments cause a lot of side effects. I can see why she felt better (temporarily) when she discontinued her meds. HBP is bad for most of your organs, especially the liver and kidneys. It also drastically increases the risk of strokes.
