Trans couple 'rattled' after harassment in Target, LGBTQ+ merchandise thrown on floor

A transgender Missoula couple was told to “enjoy it while you can ” while shopping Thursday in the LGBTQ+ section in Target by a man who went on to throw merchandise from the section onto the floor.

The man was later escorted by a Target employee out of the section, which includes clothing with rainbow colors, for example.

Octavia Jimenez and her non-binary partner, April Dean, said they were rattled by the experience.

“I think that those are temporary feelings that are going to pass,” Dean said.

Both said the opposition to Target’s merchandise is “profoundly silly.” Jimenez added people are just living their lives “and want recognition for who they are.”

“He does look very pathetic, just kind of like throwing a temper tantrum,” Jimenez said.

"Enjoy it while you can" was clearly a threat. He should have been arrested for assault.

The rhetoric of GOP presidential candidates trying to outdo each other on who is the biggest gay basher will lead to some unbalanced people doing some awful things. The candidates know this and are ok with it.

I believe that many German Jews thought the same way...unfortunately they were wrong!

These feelings that the bigots have are not temporary nor are they "going to pass", they've always felt this way...and Trump and the Republican party has made it acceptable. Gosar of Arizona pals around with Nazis and white supremacists and even has two aides working for him that are known to be Neo Nazis...and the Republican leadership have remained silent!!!

The only way this will pass is by stepping up and fighting back...because if there's one thing a bully doesn't like, it's when someone they believe is weak...stands up and fights back!!!

I’m not sure this one intended that. If they’d managed to state something just as curiosity and desire to know what people think it might have been fodder for thought. But it came off as bigoted and angry.
