Statements spewed through lying teeth have a tendency to come back and bite you in the ass.
Support for unpopular policies eventually winds up proving how unpopular you are at the ballot box.
Standing by a loser means being a loser - or someone too stupid to recognize a loser when you saw one. Same diff, either way.
Repeatedly kissing a deranged narcissist's ass is always a sign of unrelenting. ass-kissing cowardice.
Betrayal of your own constituents' best interests never bodes well for those walking around with thirty pieces of silver jangling in their pockets.
Betrayal of your own country is not something you can walk back - it's something you'll be walked on for what's left of your political careers.
Being the party of racists, xenophobes, bigots, and conspiracy whack-jobs may look good right now - but I assure you that you'll regret it - if not now, soon - and for the rest of your lives.
The question now is how many off-ramps will you continue to ignore before you recognize the sign-post up ahead - the one that says Last Exit to Sanity Before You Crash and Burn.

(86,050 posts)They've been out there "profilin'" in the fast lane like a runaway semi on a mountain. Instead of the exit, they are in need of a runaway ramp, probably miss that too.
Better wake up Jethro. This is gonna be a big crash.

(3,222 posts)When it gets to the point where the base they are trying to keep is applauding sexual abuse at a CNN townhall, there may not be any more off ramps. Hell, even the other primary candidates running against the twice impeached, first indicted, liable of sexual abuse, insurrectionist step lightly and don't really denounce him as they should. The GOP gave up control of the vehicle so long ago there are no off ramps.
History will not be kind to the GOP. They already have an attempted coup in the books. The only hope is that they will not take America down with them in order to ban the history they are making.
Love your posts.

(3,523 posts)The truth always wins. After 77 years I can truthfully say that. I've been around that block loads of times. Look what happened to Hitler and Mussolini. Oh rump not going to shoot himself, he is too much of a coward and no ones going to hang him up by his feet, but he will suffer for what he ha done.

(11,728 posts)Have always been what you describe. Basically traitors to our country, but loyal to their supporters. They go with what their inside polling numbers say, not what's legal, moral or Constitutional. There's not a day that goes by, that any of these hard-core money makers are asking their staff about legality or Constitutional peramiter. They are asking, What's the money maker today? Do it!
Next: what's coming to the floor today, and do I care? Can we make money pushing the legislation, or make money fighting it?
Next, off the record... where's that cute little intern that was here yesterday? Do we know her family? No? GREAT! My wife's out of town, I need someone to host a lobbyist martini get-together tonight. I want her to be there. Make sure she's there. I think that's it for today.
Oh, someone get in touch with Hannity tonight. I want to bring up Biden and his failed attempts at debt ceiling solutions...
Then call CNN, Marjorie Three Toes, wants a town hall.
These guys aren't going anywhere. They have no shame. Their constituents are all in, and have been for decades. It's all being said outloud now. We're shocked, but they're not. They're celebrating and will be voting for these ingrates.
