Judge Cannon dresses down prosecutor: "I don't appreciate your tone"

From CNN's Holmes Lybrand
Judge Aileen Cannon dressed down prosecutor David Harbach twice in 20 minutes, making for tense arguments over the government’s request for a gag order on Donald Trump.

Harbach appeared to become irritated at questions from Cannon who pressed the prosecutor to connect former President Donald Trump’s words to threats from others against law enforcement.

Cannon quickly stopped Harbach, telling him “I don’t appreciate your tone.”

She added that she would “appreciate decorum at all times” and added “If you aren’t able to do that, I’m sure one of your colleagues can take up arguing this motion.”

“Yes, your honor,” Harbach replied.

So the question I have is - Who is coaching her? Who is giving her the info she needs to hold up this case and cause a continual delay?

I really don't think that she has the ability to figure out all these delaying tactics on her own.

What's the story?

That if a judgement is made prior to trial then Smith can file charges again; whereas if the trial starts and she then finds Trump innocent then Trump is free and Smith can do nothing; So speculation is that she is laying all of these conditions to give her room so that when the trial starts she can attribute his innocence to something already mentioned but no judgement rendered.

Smith is probably waiting for her next big mistake so that he can ask to have her removed.

But the smart money says - she will find Trump innocent if he goes to trial before the jury even has a chance to render a verdict. Oh, once a jury is empaneled then double jeopardy is at play. But I am not a legal person…

I read that when she was being considered for the appointment to the bench she had to submit some documentation on her qualifications and she submitted a recipe/cookbook. Whether true or not, I don’t know but I no longer doubt it.

Judge is skeptical of putting gag order on Donald Trump in classified documents case
From CNN's Holmes Lybrand

Judge Aileen Cannon indicated Monday she is skeptical of placing a gag order on Donald Trump and asked prosecutors if they wanted to provide more evidence of the former president’s words leading to threats.

The hearing is ongoing, and Cannon is not expected to rule today.

She set a deadline for Wednesday for prosecutors to decide whether they want to provide her more evidence in the record around the gag order issue.

Prosecutor David Harbach said the Justice Department will tell the court by tomorrow.

The judge has said she wants to provide both sides “adequate opportunity to respond” each time more evidence about gag orders, threats and other courts’ actions is brought into the Florida documents case.

The situation highlights how Cannon keeps allowing more arguments and information into the case, often putting off making decisions for weeks.

bore on her naming all the stupid shit she has been pulling for months on end. In his outside voice until they dragged him out of the courtroom. His words would’ve made the nightly news. DOJ has plenty more prosecutors to take his place. We are playing hardball here, people. Better yet, bring in some women prosecutors. Women have no rule books. That is why men are afraid of us. That is all.

she's a SC justice. If she doesn't give them the gag order they asked for, I hope they race to the 11th Circuit. I'll bet they already have written the complaint.

Why did she allow partisan outside lawyers to argue on behalf of Trump? Now it seems like she plans to rule in the negative against the prosecutors. And, there's ample room to drag it out, having given the prosecutors until Wednesday to present, I guess, connecting evidence to prove what Trump said is a threat. She doesn't get mob boss talk, and is out of touch with other prosecutors and judges who are currently being massively threatened, along with their families.

She thinks she's gonna make it all the way to the USSC. It's like a tryout, receiving amici argument, telling the prosecutor about his "attitude," and handing out warnings to prosecutors to give up their evidence. She's a disgrace.

Didn't/Don't his lawyers get consistently get schooled, WITH GOOD REASON, by the judges...

Dimwit but well coached Cannon "is doing the same thing"

Although she's not...

Her each and every action in court and out of it is SCRIPTED beforehand by some dark figures.

Alito, Thomas. Bannon??? All of them?

Whoever it is, its definitely someone...

All of this is scripted.

Don't be surprised and waste your time.

Each and every scumbag move of hers is... if you think about it, not at all surprising...

ruling, which she was too chickenshit to do. She merely dressed down the prosecutor.

Unless an attorney is doing something obviously disrespectful, e.g., shouting, profanity, sarcasm, rolling of the eyes, making faces, etc., s/he can't be reproached for advocating on behalf of a client. In this situation, none of the above happened.

I wish there were a recording of this supposed interaction.

I've been nearly thrown in jail a couple of times because of my tone with a judge. Once as a prosecutor and once as a defense attorney (although it was technically a parental termination of rights case).
