Spirit Halloween raised its pitchforks at "Saturday Night Live," which aired a sketch mocking the costume store during Saturdays Season 50 premiere.
Americas largest Halloween retailer reposted a video of the skit on X with the caption, We are great at raising things back from the dead @nbcsnl. A picture of a fake costume labeled Irrelevant 50-year-old TV Show designed like the garb sold in their stores was also featured in the post. The costume was described as including dated references, unknown cast members and shrinking raises three clear jabs at "SNL."
X users haunted the comments with remarks like, This is way funnier than their video, and Looks like @nbcsnl needs to hire the social media team of @SpiritHalloween to be writers.
But some die-hard "SNL" fans snuck in to defend the show as well. One X user commented, SNL rules. Always has, always will, while another wrote, The skit was hilarious though.

I thought it was pretty funny, and not really a slam at Spirit, as much as a sad commentary on life in America today.

Pro tip, Spirit: never let professional comedians know that they got to you. It just ensures they'll keep it up. I look forward to more Spirit jabs upcoming on Weekend Update segments.
