Fox News chief political analyst Brit Humes take on the motive for the No Kings protests drew swift condemnation and a series of blunt reminders this weekend.
The rallies that saw millions take to the streets nationwide to express their anger at the Trump administrations policies were mostly, Hume wrote on social media, just a protest against a man who sought power 3 times through democratic elections and enacted his major agenda item by majority vote of democratically elected members of Congress.
Then he snarked: Some king.

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a vehement critic of Trump, replied to Humes post: Come on. You know what this means. Of course hes not a literal king because we wont let him be. But our nation was founded on anti-corruption, disseminating power to the people, holding all equal under the law.

(52 posts)I'm old so I didn't go to our local protest. But been thinking that in this day and age protests really doesn't do any good. If what was reported that across the nation approximately 7 million attended just think what all those people could do if they canceled out every business in the nation that supports trumplings and maga. Cancel all subscriptions and quit shopping anywhere that supports him. Put it in the pocket book and not on the streets.

(23,462 posts)I remember when he blurted out a completely asinine question to President Clinton about "disabusing us" - after Ruth Bader Ginsburg had just shared her life story (and how she lost relatives in the Holocaust) in the WH press conference announcing her nomination in '93.
"I've long since given up thinking I can disabuse some of you of anything," Clinton replied - in that pitch-perfect aw-shucks way of his. "And how you can ask something like that, after what she just said, I beyond me."

Trump tried to overthrow a free election, pardoned 1000 criminals, and has placed congress on their knees. Oh not to mention the Epstein files, and his 400 million dollar free jet that we will pay 1 billion to upgrade and give to him. Gold palaces and ballrooms and massive arches are not the works of someone who seeks humble power"

(5,257 posts)Sometimes nobody knows whats going on, and why they are there.
But this time, No Kings means so many things to so many people.
To me, its the Extrajudicial murders of boaters outside any authorization from Congress fur anything. Thats straight up a violation of the Constitution. He violated due process. Justice was not served. That is impeachable, to me.
To another person at my rally, No Kings meant we wont tolerate the total destruction of key parts if our government - like the CDC, and the EPA. Congress has to weigh in and come to consensus over the right planning of cuts. Congress has to get the voice on how things are spent, its up to Congress to appropriate, and, by law, approve reprogramming money. Theyd not happening at all. Thats what No kings means to her.
No Kings means no zip ties on twoyear old kids at 3:00am. Thats ludicrous- and unacceptable. ICE is out of control, and Border Patrol isnt properly
Overseeing their employees.
No kings means so many different things to different people. What does it mean to you?

(23,462 posts)To me, accountability is the first virtue I think of when I think of "No Kings."
Which, of course, is the very last thing we'd ever get from Needy Amin or his Banana Republican coterie.
