(25,812 posts)but I regret to say that it's wasted on the scumbags of the tea variety, many of whom are beneficiaries of socialism in the form of SS or SSA - oblivious to the meaning of the word. Capitalism, on the other hand, is given free rein as long as the 'job creators' are reaping the benefits of labor - safety and health of the workers be damned.

(28,498 posts)The result is when tea baggers hear "socialism" they think "communism" and we all know how terrible communism is.
So they don't want to believe that they are the beneficiaries of "socialism."
Capitalism, on the other hand, is more synonymous with "fascism."

(10,056 posts)They are the flip side of the same coin.
'Capitalism,' socialism, and communism are all capitalist systems.
You can think about them as: Private Capitalism, Regulated Capitalism, and State Capitalism respectively.
But your point about FOX is spot on.

Also, wasn't it Lincoln who said "Labor is the superior of capital"?

(23,973 posts)The vast majority of wealthy in this country made their money the old-fashioned way.
THEY INHERITED IT.
Most wealthy people never had to work a day in their liives, they live off of money that they never earned.

(12,704 posts)to re-frame socialism as it has become extremely clear to me that most people haven't a clue what socialism actually means. What you posted is brilliant.

(24,461 posts)Reading a book called The Rich Don't Always Win. Only 50 pages into it, yet it's already a rich history on how there rarely was ever a level playing field in America . . . and that's only because the wealthy were forced into one.
Then came Ronald Dickhead Reagan. The end. Now it's Plutocracy: Bigger, Badder and Uncut.

. . . that's currently insulting this photo AND my comments. Classic. Anyone who still uses words like "statists" needs to get out of the 1960s. "Statist" is what a boy still living in 1962 says. Their entire construct is already based on an insult, so engaging with them would be pointless. Besides, the Cold War was a PHANTOM, a false trail created by our intelligence that many paranoid Americans hopped on lovingly.
Instead of trying to debate, all they can do is name-call . . . the last refuge of the defeated. A lot of them look like they're younger, which tells me that Luntz/Fox's hypnotic Horatio Alger messaging knows NO age limit.
