The Hill: EPA to review claims of bias against conservatives amid fight over IRS

The Environmental Protection Agency’s inspector general will review claims the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) refuses to waive public records fees for conservative groups while granting the waivers for environmental organizations.

Acting Administrator Robert Perciasepe asked the agency’s inspector general to review claims after GOP lawmaker accusations of a double standard.

The charges came up Thursday during a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing, where Republicans compared the EPA's actions to the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups.

Perciasepe told lawmakers he’s asking the inspector general to help conduct a “programmatic audit” of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request fee decisions.

This administration seems to be collapsing into complete incompetence. This is what happens when you don't stand up to the bullies. Of all the mistakes these clowns have made, the biggest might have been coming out with an immediate apology about the IRS procedures when in fact there wasn't much of anything to apologize for other than perhaps the fact that bureaucracies move more slowly than many people like -- especially underfunded bureaucracies whose ability to staff appropriately has been cut off by the Republicans.

Obama is really starting to get into the "least effective President ever" territory.

Honestly we'd probably be better off at this point if Obama never said another word the next 3-1/2 years and vetoed every bill passed by Congress -- and we'll come back in 2016 and see what we can do to repair this crap.

What a wasted opportunity this has been.

getting no resistance from Obama.

By immediately rolling over on the IRS thing, which turns out to not even me true in the main, he has opened the door for the RW machine to roll him across the board.

It is already obvious that the IRA was cowed by the right-wingers. The standard in the law for 501(c)(4) is no income from direct election involvement. The courts reviewed that and said the standard should be "insignificant" income from direct election involvement. The IRS then interpreted "insignificant" to be anything up to 49.9% involvement in elections. And because of that the IRS did not deny a single RW 501(c)(4) application. Not a single one.

And still this clown comes out immediately with a strong apology. "Oh, I'm so sorry. The IRS should never have asked any questions while you were making a mockery of the tax code, the electoral process, and the judicial rulings. Please give me another chance. Here -- let me fire some people to show you that I will never cause you any trouble ever again."

And then we are surprised when 5 days that the RW assholes start the same game on the EPA? Stay tuned for Obama's apology and firings of top EPA officials.

...that's what the GOP and complicit media want to project with these absurd claims. Things are moving right along while they create distractions.

...Republicans made an accusation! How many executive and federal offices are there? Maybe the Republicans can demand an investigation into each, expand the federal government to do so, creating jobs to help the economic recovery, which they're clearly obstructing.
