Republican mayor endorses Chris Christie's Democratic opponent!

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/05/buono_received_first_republica.html

"Spotswood Mayor Nick Poliseno stressed that Buono, a state senator whose legislative district once included the borough, "has shown a tireless dedication to the people of Middlesex County."

"This endorsement goes beyond party politics," Poliseno said at a news conference this morning at the Spotswood Diner. "It's about who is the right person to lead all of New Jersey."

Poliseno, a former borough councilman who became mayor in January, said he supported Christie in 2009's election, but he soured on the governor because of his handling of the economy. "

This is winnable. I know lots of folks just want to write us off - and Buono off in NJ -

But this thing can be won.

And this endorsement was a good start.

Christie is only popular because of his PR after Sandy. There are still many problems in the state, such as unemployment which is above 10 percent.

Trust me - I know. But I still think we can win it.

Don't forget the property taxes. We can't find anything in Somerville or Morristown under $8300K a year. Bridgewater township is a bit better but we don't have children and aren't likely to so don't really want to live in snoozeville.

Higher than national average unemployment.
Highest property taxes.
Unfavorable business climate for tradespeople/small business owners (my husband's HVAC co is in NJ = Iron Works PA).

And I still say he ONLY won because so many folks who came out in 2008 just sat home and gave up. Just the number of voters alone. Too many sat home.

I think I can get people off their asses for Buono. It's going to be key for those of us in the burbs to get into Newark, and Jersey City and Camden and their surrounding towns and GOTV. We gotta get folks fired up this time - same as they were to vote for Obama.

The Today Show was just FAWNING over him the other day, all in a effort to help his 2016 chances. They want to paint him as such a moderate, all because he was cordial to the President of the United States (as ANY elected official should be toward him when he comes to their state), all the while ignoring his deep cuts to education and the damage he has done to unions.

It was even to the point where I overheard my dad (who is not as staunch a Democrat as I am) say to my mother "If he runs in 2016, I'd consider voting for him." No sooner did I run into the room yelling "Like hell you will!" That's the last time my dad tries to stray over to the dark side!

Because of this:

all the while ignoring his deep cuts to education and the damage he has done to unions.

You know what - I don't think people are going to just forget these things . . . . all they need is a little prompting.

And the more we state it over and over again at DU - the better. I was a bit disturbed when knews of his surgery came out how 'forgiving' so many non-Jersey DU members were of the guy.

Did they forget how he's treated teachers, first responders, everyone in this state? And how about his whining about having to paying upwards of $13k a year for his McMansion in Mendham? Must be nice to have a McMansion to whine about.
