Adam Levine forced to defend 'anti-American' comment on The Voice

America won't tolerate Adam Levine's "unpatriotic" exasperation. The Maroon 5 frontman drew scores of complaints for quipping "I hate this country" on an episode of The Voice, requiring a formal statement to explain his remark.

On Tuesday night's episode of the US series, viewers eliminated two of the three singers Levine coaches on the show. Part-way through the segment (at 1:14 in this video), Levine muttered his allegedly anti-American remark; reports suggest that the star didn't know that his microphone was recording.

Most viewers, one would think, would understand Levine's comment: the American public had just rebuffed his taste, rejecting two thirds of his contestants. Of course he hates them. But across the US, hundreds of viewers took Levine's whingeing as a threat to liberty, democracy and the principles of the founding fathers.

"Hey @adamlevine this country you apparently hate so much made you rich. You're free to leave. Try Syria. I hear it's nice this time of year," wrote one patriot. "Can we send Seal Team 6 after him?" enquired another. Others suggested Levine "move to a communist country".

8. No, the most talented singer is the one who could play piano and make every song her own, Judith.

His was frustrated because America is so stupid it only votes for country singers. The only 2 people who have a shot a being a star is the 16 yr old country singer and Judith. Being able to sing isn't enough. And the rest don't have it no matter how well they can sing.

Michelle may have moderate success, but never big success.

12. The show has actually been unfriendly towards country singers in the past.

No country artists cracked the final 8 the previous two years.

Hill shot herself in the foot by choosing to cover a song that (a) most people didn't know (b) wasn't particularly good and (c) was written for voices vastly inferior to hers.

I never thought she would win--she was really moving one week, then would put something out like last week that no one got excited about.

I'm pissed off at the country because shows like "The Voice" are keeping decent programming off the air.

Also, daring to criticize America is so incredibly scary. Sheesh. It's a singing competition and his comment was sort of joking.

Also, Levine's people got sent home due to poor song choices and performances that didn't move people.

If you have a superstar voice, don't cover will. i. am and justin bieber.

11. is whingeing really a word?

It's not in my unabridged dictionary (from 1966) (hey some library threw it out and I recycled it).

But this is England and they do have their own bloody way of spelling. It's not in my Oxford desk dictionary either.

When I see that on the internets, I usually assume the writer just does not know how to spell "whining".

"But across the US, hundreds of viewers took Levine's whingeing as a threat to liberty, democracy and the principles of the founding fathers. "

oh right, he was probably just stressed out, that is the kind of response you could expect when someone is stressed out and not having a good day, maybe, the judges work hard and have a hard life, though i kind of doubt it with all the riches they have.

well they definitely get rewarded well for the work that they do do, compared to your average american's pay grade for work rendered.

well the voice usa just finished the other day and it was a okay series this year, well they have 2 series a year, which is or could be a bit much will see how part 2 goes later in the year when they start back up on nbc with the auditions again.
