(20,600 posts)He is the one trying to pretend he is a moderate and can get the Democratic votes too, but also the conservative votes. He is trying to play both sides of the fence.

(39,303 posts)like Romney.
Christie will attract some Latino, Black voters. Not so sure about women.
He'll attract low info voters who like him on Saturday Night Live, etc.
Many citizens are lame enough to vote for the entertainment value of a candidate - see Reagan 1980
quinnox
(20,600 posts)He will either lose a lot more weight, and he will then brag about it on the campaign trail, about how he has great discipline and willpower and so on, or he will remain fat, and all the fat people in America (and let's face it, we are an obese nation) will look at him as "one of them" an average guy carrying excess weight, and they can relate to him.

Hmm. That might be over 50%

(564 posts)It'll be another clown race for awhile, then someone people might actually vote for will appear, likely Christie, as the previous poster mentioned.

(51,122 posts)They will want to take a chance to carve away just enough Latinos, who want to see a Latino President in their lifetimes.
And Ted Cruz is un-electable, and they know it.

(23,673 posts)I'll put him on the board

(8,361 posts)Tge field will have some conservatives...but LOTS of moderates as well.

(55,124 posts)Rick Scott won't even be able to win Florida if he were to run again as our Governor.
My best guess is it's going to be a somewhat moderate that has not been on the national stage. Their party is on life support & they know it.

(23,673 posts)One of Cruz' parents was an American citizen at the time of his birth, that confers native born citizenship.

(55,124 posts)I do believe though he has about as much chance as getting the Republican nomination as my dog Prissy does.
gopiscrap
(23,673 posts)and then watch them get slaughtered. Besides I loved the SNL skits about Palin!!

(3,539 posts)Naturally to appease the Koch funded devision of the GOP someone standing for freedumb that has a christan background and high moral standards will be selected for VP.
I'm thinking Scott Walker.
gopiscrap
(23,673 posts)the President and the Vice President can't be from the same state. That's why Cheney found a "home" in Wyoming.

(46,585 posts)Christie will never make it out of the GOP primary a viable candidate. He's pissed off the teabaggers and they, the fringiest of the fringe, are the ones that vote in the GOP primary.
flamingdem
(39,303 posts)That would be something.
Wouldn't be too good for our international reputation, but it would be pretty entertaining in a horror movie kind of way.

(11,804 posts)Yes, he's a bit of a dark horse, but I think his message really resonates with the Tea Party faithful.
