(17,573 posts)Get people to STOP SHOPPING ON THANKSGIVING.
The whole idea that these companies are forcing their workers to cut their Thanksgiving Day short and come to work pisses me off.
BUT you know what? They wouldn't do it if they didn't expect to make money doing it.
So, thinking about that, I started wondering, who the HELL shops on Thanksgiving?? I came up with 2 types of people:
1) people who have no freakin' time to shop otherwise, because except for holidays, THEY have to work all the freakin' time;
2) people who don't have anyone at all in their lives to be hanging out with in the family sense that Thanksgiving is made for; and haven't grasped that there are places that could use their volunteerism on Thanksgiving and it would make them feel great.
I guess maybe I see humanity with too rosy a lens, and maybe there's a third category: frickin' MORON ASSHOLES who WANT to SHOP instead of hanging around in the family room with their kids or the siblings' kids or their cousins' kids OR just helping out at the food bank and being useful to society. (Are there really very many people in that category? I sure hope not.)
Well, anyway, I blame the stores less, and the circumstances causing #1 more, and I really blame the people I don't want to believe exist that would SHOP on Thanksgiving Day. WTF is wrong with people?

(12,081 posts)Black Friday or Thanksgiving until they have living wages and can afford to pay full price for what they buy. I have shopped Black Friday for several years now for my kids's clothes. Luckily they don't really need anything this year, so I'm good. My son wants to buy a Nintendo 3DS on sale, but I think we will do that on cyber Monday.

(29,670 posts)who proudly shop on Thanksgiving are probably more the a-hole type. They have the time, they have families, they have the money-they just feel like it and think that the employees should be grateful to even have a job.
Unfortunately, it's family members saying this so it's hard to just unfriend them.

(11,495 posts)Never again! It's jus insane to "fight" over some crap that is on sale in order to save a couple of dollars. I find deals as good if not better online, closer to X-mas, and even better deals "after" the holidays, so why go through all the BS on Thanksgiving day or the day after?

(89,240 posts)and like being part of the crowd and fall for the media and business pushing big sales. thinking they will miss out on some great deals if they don't get out there.
those who don't have anyone wouldn't really need to shop for others .
and those who work all the time would probably prefer to spend time at home and most likely shop online.
