COOL! The "Christmas sucks" threads on DU can now coincide with the Black Friday sales pitch ...

bullshit which permeates my television and newspapers.
'Tis the season (for both the "hipper-than-thou religion sucks" crew and the money-grubbing corporate shitstains who operate the big box stores!) Equally tedious and equally predictable. We'll see you all back again next November.

I'll just celebrate what I want to celebrate the way I want to celebrate. If someone doesn't like it, that's their problem.

(And "hipper-than-thou religion sucks" crew is about as apt a description as I've seen.)

Christmas is supposed to be a Religious Holiday, for some. Black Friday is a Capitalist Holiday all about making MONEY.

You are right. Christmas does seem to start earlier every year. Even here on DU.

January - Annual Roe v Wade discussions. "Rape apologists" and "I'm all for choice (unless if it's not exactly how I would choose)" folks to come out of the woodwork.

February - Valentine's Day discussions. Similar to the Christmas / Thanksgiving discussions. Generally the too-cool-for-the-room folks to admonish the corporate apologists who buy into an obviously capitalist holiday.

March - Is open for discussion.

April - Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King / Abraham Lincoln Assassinations / Anniversary of 2 major civil rights acts - Lots of pro/anti gun discussions peppered in with the occasional single post PPRs.

May - Is open for discussion.

June - Anniversary of Tiananmen Square - Usually met with a resounding yawn. Anniversary of RFK shooting, Conspiracy Nutcakes vs Sheeple Smack-Down!

July - Civil Rights Act of 1964... No less than 64 original posts all full of "Fuck Yeah!" This year, is the big 40 year anniversary. Bring a covered dish.

August - Hiroshima... Pro Genocide vs Pro Genocide of a different people... Or something like that. I tend to stay out of those. Got my ass handed to me once in there.

September - Well... Conspiracy Nutcakes vs Sheeple Smack-Down Part Deux!

October - Elections are winding up.

November - Anniversary of JFK assassination. Similar to June, but at a factor of 10.

December - You've already covered it...

May is Mothers Day, and we reserve it for contests over who had the crappiest mother and why we don't observe it. Mixed in with various EIC arguments.
