Will Rubio's naked ambition cost him the VP slot?

I never thought I would see a politician more transparently ambitious than Mitt Romney but I found one: Marco Rubio. He moved up the publication date of his book, hired a team to do opposition research on himself and endorsed Romney now that the MSM stopped pretending anyone else had a chance. But will this hurt him? Everything I mention is inside baseball for people like us, but it's indicative of a quality that may apparent to other voters. Does Romney need anyone more ambitious than himself on the ticket?

He would give up his Senate seat to help Romney (if Romney won)? Then Romney would run for reelection and Rubio would be a VP for eight years or probably only four.

Rubio is looking out for Rubio in 2016 or 2020.
