On Dianne Feinstein: "She was the woman who was standing under the streetlight with her dress pulled all the way up over her knees, and now she says, 'I'm a nun,' when it comes to this spying!"
On Eric Cantor: "If you were just a regular person, you turned on the TV, and you saw Eric Cantor talking, I would sayand I'm fine with gay people, that's all rightbut my gaydar is 60-70 percent. But he's not, I think, so I don't know. Again, I couldn't care less. I'm accepting."

(7,960 posts)Too bad. I like the guy but while he might be able to get away with that sort of stuff on a state level you simply can't do that on the national stage--especially if you're a politician who has set himself up as a critic of Wall Street.
Guilty Confession: I did think it was a pretty funny--and rather dead on description of both his targets.

(2,169 posts)By concentrating on the minutiae, the issues he actually does something about might be swept under the rug
From the National Journal piece:
Four years later, he was elected governor. Over his eight years in office, Schweitzer broke ground on a free health clinic for state employees, passed funding for full-time kindergarten, and pushed curricula for public-school students about Native American history, which the state's constitution had called for since 1972.
Montana passed a renewable-energy standard for large utilities in 2005, and Schweitzer swapped state-owned cars for hybrids. He started the Yellow Ribbon Program to provide counseling to military service members and their familieswhich was later adopted on the national level. He held monthly contests where anyone in the state could submit ideas about how to save money, and gave away palladium coins to winners. In 2009, Montana was one of only two states to come out of the recession with a surplus. In his two terms, the state cut taxes and repeatedly froze college tuition.
All of this made him very popular...

Other politicians are passing laws that require purchase of corporate insurance and secret wiretapping and this guy gets slimed for a few non PC statements.
Looking at the kind of politicians that run rampant, America gets what it deserves politically.

(1,967 posts)Linsey Graham and many religious right leaders. They encourage sexism and macho bullshit but have fem mannerisms. He is imitating Bill Maher. There is also a push by Clintonists to get Cantor's neocon voters. People who will push more war in Iraq and other places, so we have to pretend Cantor was a moderate.
