This email from Charlie Christ about the real reason R Scott did not implement the highspeed

For years now, we've been asking why on Earth Rick Scott would turn down $2.4 billion in high-speed rail.

Finally, we're starting to get answers.

Scott said no to high-speed rail in order to cut out competition for a private company with strong ties to his chief of staff, Adam Hollingsworth.

Scott's showing his true colors once again. He put special interests and personal connections above real Floridians. Scott has got to go.
railway that the Floridians voted for.

Dear Maraya

This story is disgusting, but not surprising:

Adam Hollingsworth was an advisor on the Scott transition team in 2010. He pushed Scott to turn down the infrastructure investment.

Then Hollingsworth took a job outside the administration and immediately began lobbying Scott to move forward with All Aboard Florida, the intercity transit system his company had connections with.

Scott said yes, and now All Aboard Florida is receiving millions in Florida taxpayer dollars. Hollingsworth later rejoined the Scott government.

And there you have it. When you're sitting in traffic on I-4, you know who to blame.

Sick of this? Chip in $10 or more before tomorrow's filing deadline:

Thanks,

Charlie Crist for Governor 2014

1. A high-speed train from Orlando to Tampa was one of the dumbest ideas ever.

Both of those cities are sprawling, and you need a car to get around. And the Orlando station is near the airport, not downtown. Who is going to (1) drive to the station in Orlando, (2) find a parking spot, (3) wait for the high-speed train, (4) ride 45 minutes to Tampa, and (5) wait to rent a car, or take a taxi, to the final destination, when they could just get in their car and do the 85 mile drive? This project was pushed by special interests but was wisely rejected by Florida voters.

2. That's why high speed rail needs to be coupled with subway/monorail in every city

In California, it would change everything to be able to get from LA to San Francisco in a couple of hours and they take the Metro or Bart everywhere. LA doesn't even have a subway connecting the Eastside with the Westside FFS. High speed to Vegas would cut way down on traffic on the weekends. I'm sure Florida could benefit highly from connecting its major cities. Air travel with all the screening time is no longer viable. This country needs it. But I am sure it will be so corrupt it will be a problem.

Voters didn't reject high speed rail, Scott did. The Tampa to Orlando route would have paid for itself.

High speed rail would have been great for Florida, eventually connecting Tampa to Miami.

Another Scott fail.

That would surely bring in a lot of tourist money to those areas. I would love it if they had one from my area to Orlando.

6. Well, at least that's nothing like appointing someone who has a resume of poor judgment calls

to an Aviation board because that person has the ability to bring together big money collections with a simple batched email.

That's what makes politics so hard to take. You really want to believe that someone is above the churn, but there's always something that keeps getting in the way.

9. What are you talking about? And how can it possibly be worse than Scott refusing the railway so he

could make money for his friend and I'm sure kick backs to himself. He has no qualms about stealing from people. Remember the 55 million he was forced to pay back for Medicaid or Medicare fraud? How he got into the governors house is beyond me. We've got millions of people in this state and Scott gives them the finger on a regular basis.

Plus Scott will not expand Medicaid. Which means that people are going to die because Scott hates Barack Obama.

There is no redeemable quality about Rick Scott. He has to GO.

At least we know where the problems will crop up in the Crist Administration. Hopefully, the journalists will be ready to report them.
