http://www.patheos.com/blogs/progressivesecularhumanist/2014/09/megachurch-pastor-says-gays-must-be-put-to-death/Last Sunday, Brainerd Baptist Church Senior Pastor Robby Gallaty told his large congregation that Christians should never stop discriminating against homosexuals, claiming that gays could choose to be straight if they only accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior....
Pastor Gallaty tried to justify his Biblically inspired hatred for gays and lesbians by repeatedly trying to argue that being gay is a choice, and some sort of rebellion against his imaginary Gods divine plan.
While openly acknowledging that Christianity was the source and justification for racism in America prior to the civil rights movement, Pastor Gallaty admonished his congregation that the analogy between Christians openly discriminating against gays is different from Christians openly discriminating against African Americans because gays choose their sexual orientation but African Americans do not choose the color of their skin:

(16,149 posts)The Evangelicals have certainly been overseas as strong advocates for Genocide of gay people in countries like Uganda, Nigeria, Congo, Burma, Russia ...
And all of it leads right back to a shadowy, extreme far rightwing "Church" (Cult) known only as "THE FAMILY"/"THE FELLOWSHIP," in Washington DC. "THE FAMILY" puts together the yearly President's Prayer Breakfast, as they have since 1952, and "THE FAMILY" owns "Frathouse for Jesus," which provides housing for Senators (Democrats and Republicans).

(16,820 posts)A lot of people do go to very small churches, but it usually takes a congregation of at least 100-200 people just to pay the church's bills. When I think of a megachurch, I think of a church with at least 1000 people at the liturgy/worship service.

(12,017 posts)but then again, I went to a baptist church as a kid that sat about 2000 per service... and there were three each weekend!

(9,186 posts)do you tell you congregation who have tattoos that they are condemned to Hell...even if the tat is a biblical quote? Bible says so!
You Cafeteria Christian bastard.
You are a charlatan and a money-changer if there ever was one. If Jesus appeared tomorrow, after your initial panicked suicidal ideations, you'd probably team with Pat Robertson to crucify Him again.

(966 posts)Since you seem to be throwing around on Hebrew Scripture willy-nilly (thats the Old Testament in case you were confused) let me share a few other helpful pericopes that might clear things up.
Ezekiel 16:49
Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. Sodoms sins were pride, gluttony, and laziness, while the poor and needy suffered outside her door.
Or Proverbs 6:16-19
There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
What, no queers on these lists? Ruh-roh!
