(39,343 posts)Oh wait, it doesn't. I'm not updating my 4s until they find a way to have it make fresh salsa with warm tortilla chips.

(10,926 posts)Which doesn't really seem to merit all the hullabaloo, but whatever. Apple could stick a logo on
piece of driftwood and its slaves would buy.

(39,343 posts)I'll get the 6 when it goes on sale for the 7, but not one of those big ones. That would stretch out the pocket in my skinny jeans.

(726 posts)...industry for someone, bigger pockets. I know mine aren't deep enough.
I really like your term.

(14,449 posts)Yes I suppose it is considered a dinosaur now but it still works well and I am happy with it. Oh sure I will upgrade to another IPhone someday but not today for sure. I am just not one of those who needs to have the latest and greatest every time.

(16,191 posts)WiFi calling allows your phone to work even when you have no signal. Where I work, for example, my office is deep in the bowels of a heavy steel and concrete building that succeeds in blocking all cell signals unless you seek out a window. My Android devices have supported WiFi calling for years, which allows T-Mobile (my phone provider) to route calls to my phone over wifi. When the phone can't find a cell signal, it seeks out available wifi networks and uses them to connect to T-Mobiles network instead. The integration is seamless. Unless I look at my phone and check the icon, there's no way to tell whether a call is being routed over the conventional LTE network, or local wifi.
Skype allows you to communicate over wifi instead of using your cell providers network. Wifi calling allows you to use wifi AS your cell providers network.

(6,336 posts)Wifi calling is just placing a phone call over the Wifi network (as opposed to say the Sprint network).
ETA to Skype, the other person also has to have it. For a wifi call, all the other person needs is a phone number (cell or landline).

(102,120 posts)I can see there are areas where wifi calling and Skype clearly do not overlap, though, as per your edit.

(6,336 posts)And that was a video call (it was a job interview and I had to download the software for it). I'm not too crazy about video calls in general.
Wifi calls on a Galaxy (can't speak to any other phones) don't count against your minutes (moot point for me since I have unlimited).

(39,343 posts)so you can look at your wrist to see what time it is when it's too hard to look at the phone...THAT'S ALREADY IN YOUR HAND!!!

(102,120 posts)Geez... Just going up the very slight increase in size from iphone 4 to iphone 5s was more than enough for me (though the thinner size made it worth it)...
Heavens... why not just carry a tablet type computer--ipad or ipad mini for ex, if screen size is that important?
The new features are nice, I suppose, but I always adopt well after the "kinks" have been id'd and fixed, so... very happy with my iphone 5s and will stay that way for some time to come.

(80,708 posts)I keep mine in my pocket, mostly, and it's bad enough that Siri wants to talk to me every time I go to tie my shoes.
Literally.

(16,191 posts)Put the text messages, Facebook, Twitter, and other resources on the watch, and you eliminate the legal and criminal liability associated with using your phone while driving. I suspect that capability alone will drive adoption of the watch.
