Tonight I am really proud of President Obama.

How many times have we asked that Dems grow a spine.
I will watch the speech with a broad smile knowing 5,000,000 people in this country and their children will breathe a large sigh of relief.

told me that 1/2 of the residents were undocumented. One morning a older Hispanic man bumped into my truck with his van. You should have seen the fear on his face thinking I would call the Highway Patrol and he could get deported. I was also controller of the largest labor contractor in the San Joaquin Valley. We had 3,000 employees each week. Those folks will be happy tomorrow. All friends of mine in some way. I can see in my mind's eye the long line of headlights in the early morning darkness as the workers headed for their jobs in the fields. Tomorrow will be a better day for them.
There will also be celebrations in Keene where the United Farm Workers headquarters is. I almost worked as their accounting manager but could not live on what they could pay.

Thinking back, Obama signed DACA in July 2012 without worrying that this would cause the swing voters to go for Romney. Reality though was that the alternative would be to vote for a candidate who pledged to veto the DREAM Act and promoted "self-deportation". Still, shouldn't signing DACA the summer before his re-election bid have been seen as a gutsy move for Obama and contributing to getting Latinos to the ballot boxes?

I know that the summer before this year's election all the fuss about the Central American families migrating to the USA would have made signing this XO really really wrong. But I wonder what would've been worse, risking angering an already-active right wing "NO AMNESTY" crowd despite satisfying Latinos by signing XO before Nov. 2014 or doing so now?

that NBC announced his speech tonight, then followed up by saying, "None of the major networks will televise it."

Hubby turned to me and said, "WTF???"

It had to be addressed eventually when Congress continually failed to do so.
