1. Stunning isn't it?

I remember stopping my video and reading slowly just to let it sink in. Amazing.

2. One of the things I find fascinating about it...

... is that in the majority of cases, the government didn't even bother to make up a lie to explain the death.

4. Unfortunately, I think many in the US

Would see that clip, shrug their shoulders, and come out with any combination of "That was a long time ago" and "It's different here."

5. I agree

although I do see a little movement. Tiny still outside of those of us who have always been aware and disgusted and fighting against this.

A long time ago, I remember when Steve Biko died. I remember when this was happening. A long time ago. LOL, that just shows how badly we need real history taught in our schools. Also my age!!!

6. I like to say "Anything that happened before you were born is history."

And too many people aren't interested in history. But piling up years (I was born in 1956, myself) tends to distort perspective somewhat. I feel weird when the muscle cars I lusted for as a youth are now called "classic" or even "antique."

8. No one ever acknowledges slipping backwards, either.

Such is the power of the Myth of Progress, despite the continued cuts to the social programs and gutting of everything we had going to "build civilization" in this country since the 1980s. The Culture Wars was one long game of the White Man saying: "If I can't have all the public resources, then no one can have anything."

7. We need an American version of a Cry Freedom movie

that can really bring home what is going on within our own country.
