The area is residential. Probably followed the creek.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a mountain lion was shot and killed in the Omaha area.

The cougar had been spotted Wednesday afternoon near Project Harmony, a nonprofit agency in Omaha. The Omaha Police Department said the Nebraska Humane Society had been contacted about the situation and officials were heading to the scene.

Mark Langan, vice president of field operations for the Humane Society, confirmed with the Omaha World-Herald that the mountain lion had been killed by officers.

No further information has been released.

People have spotted some kind of wild cat in our woods here in NE MN also. Everyone was really surprised as they are not usual here. Too bad they shot it. I hope ours finds an home around us. We learned to live with the wolves - we can learn to live with the wild cat.
