Racial slurs turn into self defense shooting, cops say.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by TexasTowelie (a host of the General Discussion forum).

This poor man did everything right, but ended up having to shoot some drunk racist. What he did after the shooting is equally impressive. Knowing that when the cops arrive to a scene of a "black man with a gun" it could be dangerous, he informs 911 that he has put his gun on the counter and will be lying on the floor when police arrive. He was not charged as the video shows he did nothing wrong.

The video certainly helps. Its hard to say anything negative about the guy after watching it. Has a permit, tries to back away, lays down on the floor, etc. He did everything right.

In reading the police report, it is clear the officer is using the "Stand Your Ground" criteria to say he used justifiable self-defense. For example - "A place he was allowed to be". Normally self-defense would only be an affirmative defense, meaning you would have to prove in court that you had no other choice. People often vilify the concept because of obvious misuse, but this was clearly what it was intended to cover.

He wasn't shot because he used a racial slur. His friend tried to punch the shooter, missed and a few second later the guy that was killed rushed the shooter trying to take him down. The dead man in this story would have been alive today if he didn't try to bum rush a man who already displayed his pistol.

He brought his fists to a gun fight and lost. A fight he had absolutely no reason to be in. This shooting has as much to do with him being shirtless as it has to the dead guy using racial slurs.

For whatever reason, they HAD to talk shit to this guy, who you can see has done nothing. If they werent racist shitbags, this incident would never have happened.
