Sanders was asked if he would have a civil debate with Clinton in the months to come, given her status as a member of the political establishment he said he did not represent, and given that she has been widely criticised on matters regarding her wealth. On Friday she and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, said they had earned more than $25m in speaking fees since January 2014.
Ive never run a negative political ad in my life, Sanders said. I believe in serious debates on serious issues. Ive known Hillary Clinton for 25 years. Maybe I shouldnt say this: I like Hillary Clinton. I respect Hillary Clinton.
Will the media, among others, allow us to have a civil debate on civil issues? Or is the only way you get media attention by ripping apart somebody else?

Nice praise from someone who presumably knows her better than anybody on the "internets".

(46,585 posts)At the first inkling of it slipping away from her again, I fully expect the Clinton campaign to get ugly, just like they did in 2008 when that worked out so nicely for her.

But my advice is to stick to issues , do the debate, and concentrate on the gop.

As a matter of fact, they are both lawyers.
They knew what the game was and had thick skins. Weird how the supporters are the ones who get more sensitive.

(135,425 posts)Why people try to gin up this false "fight" business is beyond me.
The boring truth is that they LIKE one another. They have SUPPORTED one another.
Simple people, though, prefer boxing gloves and blood on canvas to a thoughtful discussion of the issues.
Says more about them than it does about either candidate.

(11,619 posts)I see a lot of what looks like visceral dislike here, far more toward Secretary of State Clinton than Senator Sanders.
I like them both and would happily vote for either one in the General Election. I think they both would make a good President.
I have seen many here at DU who by their posts do not share Senator Sanders or my sentiments.
Those feeling aren't base in the dislike between the parties,
MADem
(135,425 posts)A month or two here, and they're like the mayor--they know everyone, and some even know the histories of so many DUers going back years.
Also, it's funny how some dormant accounts from four, six, eight years back suddenly jump up, wake up, and get all excited about this topic--one of those "Things that makes you go HMMMMMMM" kinda situation. It's interesting to read what they've said back on DU2. A lot of them, based on their old remarks, would NEVER be mistaken for the sort of people who would support Senator Sanders.
Amazing how people can change so dramatically over a half decade ... or whatever...!
They egg on the old timers, who get caught up in the fray and say stupid things to people they regard as friends over the long haul, and I suspect they don't really mean a lot of what they're saying--it's a Team Spirit exercise, and one that neither Clinton nor Sanders endorses. It should stop.

(30,058 posts)Blaming another candidate because msm does not pay attention to their campaign is admitting they are going to win so they start with somebody is not fair to them. When they become president the crying party will not work, they will have to perform, get tough and make a stand.

(9,033 posts)The entire post is about Bernie, and Bernie talking about Hillary, and in fact, refusing to "blame another candidate" but rather the media for a lack of attention. "Blaming another candidate"--were those not your words? To whom were you referring as the media-preferred candidate? Jim Webb? Bueller?

(9,033 posts)Your post all but labeled Bernie as a whiner, "blaming another candidate" for lack of media coverage. Which he emphatically did not do.
And btw, he is not "thinking about entering", he has declared, which makes him the only other declared candidate for the Democratic nomination, the first being Hillary.
Just own it: you implied* Bernie was a whiner for doing something he isn't doing.
*Blaming another candidate because msm does not pay attention to their campaign is admitting they are going to win so they start with somebody is not fair to them. When they become president the crying party will not work, they will have to perform, get tough and make a stand.

Also, go back and listen to Bernie on the talk shows as of Sunday May 17, he is now saying he is "officially" going to enter the race.
Guess you are not keeping up with Bernie very well.
Again, do not rewrite my post, your comprehension is not what I said, you have now said Bernie I a whiner. Bad.

I didn't play in 08 and not going to play now. And a few other dems could jump in, so let's see how it plays out.

I like Bernie for his policies and his actions, and I don't like Hillary for the same reason...and that does not make me a hater because I have never met her and probably never will.
We need to grow up and put aside this childishness or we will continue to be beaten at this game.
