Some reactions to The Presidents twitter...warning language.

WARNING EXPLICIT & RACIST LANGUAGE!

Within minutes of the first tweet, Obama’s new account had broken 500,000 followers — though he only follows 65 people himself. The President quickly followed Columbia University, Harvard, John Kerry, Bill Clinton, various governmental agencies, and even George H.W. Bush. He also followed every Chicago sports team except the Cubs and the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.

The President was inundated with “welcome” tweets from supporters. Some, including Bill Clinton, wondered if the new username stays with the office of President:

it is sick. Every time someone says we're post racial because we elected a black man...we can show them this.

You know and I know and many others here know this shit still exists, but too many still deny. Some of them lurk...

Twitter is a private company and would be fully within their rights to stop this. Yet they don't.

10. I just find it crazy that the leader of any country should be subjected to this amount of racist

hate, or anyone else for that matter. It's not based on anything he's done or hasn't done - just plain, ugly bigotry for the sake of it. I find it horrible, and Twitter should put a stop to it.

its hard to be POTUS with a name everyone knows and face to link it to. Its easy to be an anonymous jackass on the internet... sad but true. It is a very uneven playing field, hopefully Obama wont feed the trolls.

by some crazy being empowered just by seeing it. I also hope he won't feed the trolls, I know he won't - but I hope that whoever is protecting his family is being doubly vigilant. As for Twitter letting this remain ... beyond stupid, imo.

Some people are dumb enough to associate themselves with this crap. Yeah, dumb racists - whodathunkit.

I'm thinking of the guys that went after that baseball player's kid.

Go get 'em, Internet.

We do not. The founders gave us the tools to "form a more perfect union", and one of those tools was the first amendment.

I'm not scared by these assholes who post crap like that. The ones that scare me are the ones who harbor thoughts but hide in plain sight.

and can't understand why people do it.

Terrorists use them for planning attacks, and mean people use them because they're mean.

Innocent fun-loving people are victimized, and I don't need that.

I get enough kindness and enough meaness to satisfy me, right here in DU.

I love you guys.

The President is wasting his time - would be better served by some of our really ACE Op writers, who get 300 replies and as many R's.
