Hatton Garden safe deposit raid: police arrest nine suspects aged 48 - 76

all British white males contrary to the initial speculation about Eastern Europeans.

Scotland Yard say they have found highly valuable property stolen during the Hatton Garden heist stashed in bags, following a series of coordinated police raids by more than 200 officers which have led to the arrest of nine suspects.

Three pensioners, the oldest aged 76, were among those detained during the raids in London and Kent after Scotland Yard detectives used covert tactics to identify suspects.

One of the addresses being searched was an £800,000 property in Dartford, Kent. Two arrests were made at the property, of males aged 50 and 76. According to official documents, two males called Paul and Brian Reader were registered as living at the address.

As well as the arrests in Dartford, another four men – aged 48, 58, 67 and 74 – were arrested in Enfield, north London, while a seventh man, aged 59, was arrested in east London.

Any bets these are 'public school' boys

Shows that you can do anything on that long Easter Weekend - the robbery was planned to perfection - did you see the thickness of those walls.

called "les tontons flingeurs" circa 1963 with lino ventura, jean lefevre, bernard blier, etc. all huge star french actors. its about older gangsters who were retired and go back into action to take care of business. its one of the most hilarious movie ever. if you understand french, get the dvd.

probably doing one last, big "job". No violence, nobody got hurt, they just stole valuables from rich people. Still, it's good that they were caught. And there will indeed be some good movie roles for some aging actors.

Eight men have appeared in court charged with plotting to steal more than £10m worth of jewellery and other valuable items from safe deposit boxes in London’s Hatton Garden district.

Terry Perkins, 67, Daniel Jones, 58, and Hugh Doyle, 48, all from Enfield, appeared at Westminster magistrates court alongside William Lincoln, 59, of Bethnal Green, east London, and John Collins, 74, of north London. Brian Reader, 76, and Paul Reader, 50, both of Dartford, and Carl Wood, 58, of Cheshunt also appeared.

The men appeared side by side in two rows in the dock, dressed in a variety of grey, black and brown jumpers, while a number of them wore glasses. Perkins’ spectacles hung around his neck by a cord.

There was mention of a second hand car dealership in Kent.

Lots of "tea leaves" down that way, if you know what I mean.

Detectives from the Met's Flying Squad charged the men, aged between 48 and 76, with conspiracy to burgle on Wednesday evening.
...
Officers said bags containing a significant amount of high-value property had been recovered at one of the addresses and they were confident some were items stolen during the burglary.

What'll be interesting is how they found them - a grass, or detective work?
