you're already married, right? The Priest, Rabbi, whoever, looks at the license and does their thing but in essence, you have already tied that knot. If I'm wrong I stand corrected ahead of time..

who is allowed (by the state) to pronounce you married and one (usually) witness. The person who pronounces can be a judge, justice of the peace, etc.
