Obama ad attacking Romney’s involvement with KC company isn’t running in Missouri

Source: KC Star

"There was more evidence Monday that Missouri has dropped into the second tier of presidential battleground states.

The Barack Obama re-election campaign unveiled its first negative TV ad, a blistering attack on Republican opponent Mitt Romney’s involvement with the collapse of Kansas City-based GST Steel more than a decade ago.

But while the two-minute Obama commercial is expected to run in states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania and Colorado, it can’t be seen on television in Missouri or Kansas City, even though it features Kansas City workers talking about a Kansas City business.

“It’s pretty clear Missouri is not a battleground state for the Obama re-elect,” said Kansas City-based Democratic consultant Richard Martin. “And those other states are.”

Obama doesn't need to win MO but he can't totally ignore it with a gubernatorial and senate race

You don't want to overstretch yourself to the point where you're detracting from the major swing states. Obama wants to solidify his support in states he won in '08 and then probably move to the states he can flip (AZ and MO being the likely two).

The ad revolves around a local story, they may not be running it there for that reason.

The main issue I see for Obama is the ALEC nonsense & all the new voting restrictions. If the DNC is not up and running on this a LOT of voters will find themselves NOT voting at all on election day..

More cost-effective to focus those specific ads on states where the truth about Mittens isn't already a given. It's still early on, so probably won't take a lot of reminders right at Bain's ground zero.

But I don't watch much tv so they may run it when I don't have the tv on. My wife watches tv in the evenings and if the ad ran when she is watching she would have said something or I would have heard it as I've watched the ad online so it would have gotten my attention.
