Queen Elizabeth Has Someone Break in Her Shoes for Her

Ahead of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, her dress designer of eleven years, Stewart Parvin, sat down with The Sunday Times of London to describe what goes into clothing the monarch. He explained that his team uses a spreadsheet system with a name for each ensemble so that she doesn't repeat one for an important occasion. The accessories can be swapped in and out, and the shoes, well:

She's more like the .01%.

Truth be told, it has been surmised in the past that the Queen is a supporter of a generous social welfare state and had a frosty relationship with Margaret Thatcher.

She seems a genuinely nice lady, and as another poster said, she seems to be in favor of social welfare policies.

Also, it's hard to not be a member of the "1%" when you have a family that's been wealthy and powerful for over a thousand years.

For one thing, I've read multiple times that she's very frugal. The artwork and houses that she has the use of belong to the nation, so they're well taken care of, and the stuff they do for show like state banquets are beautifully executed, but when they're on their own she and Prince Philip eat a lot of meals on trays in front of the TV. I even read that they pour their breakfast cereal out of Tupperware containers; I find that hard to believe, but at the same time, it does seem typical of her.

She has never done anything to disgrace her position, unlike a lot of her forbears, and she's worked hard for 60 years. I like her very much. And she needs comfortable shoes--everybody who spends time on their feet deserves them--so if she has the opportunity to have somebody break them in for her, rock on.

in the world. It seems to me a terrible life, having to sit and listen to horrible entertainment, no matter how sleepy you get yawning would be disasterious. Having every second scheduled for you, no matter how you feel inside always having to smile. Seriously I think it would be hell on earth. It wouldn't be worth it to me, I bet not many people would trade their life for her's.

No doubt whoever wears them around for a few hours is getting paid while she's doing it. Give the old lady a break!

Why don't they make shoes that fit her? Does she buy off the rack from Marks & Spencer?

she should be able to have any kind of shoe made for her, using the softest, finest leather and other materials. you would think that a shoe at this level would have no need to be "worn in", it would automatically fit like a dream. yet she still needs someone to break them in?
