(2,593 posts)Boehner wasn't good, but there are lots who are worse. I'm not necessarily gleeful about him leaving. Lots of hateful people will claim a win on this one and they'll be emboldened.

(7,820 posts)I have very mixed feelings about this. I do believe the next speaker will be more extreme- in tactics and rhetoric if not in actual policies. Part of me hopes maybe this'd backfire on Republicans but another part feels like they never seem to pay a price for their extremism.

(2,188 posts)It will probably be another establishment guy. Republicans usually go with those types as leaders. Last exception was Newt. Dole, McTurtle, ets. have all been deal-makers.
