Campbell to Bennett: resign Romney post

The minority leader of the Arizona House has called on Secretary of State Ken Bennett to resign as the Arizona co-chairman of Mitt Romney‘s campaign after Bennett questioned the validity of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

Democrat Chad Campbell says Wednesday that it’s inappropriate for the state’s top elections officer to publicly support one candidate when trying to keep another off the ballot ...

But, if Arizona was a close race and need recounts just as in Florida in 2000. Wouldn't Bennett be the one to lead that? Wouldn't he have the ability to basically decide the election by deciding which ballots were valid and which were not, or as to which districts get recounted and which don't?
