Our insane approach to guns and the people who use them to slaughter us

Weíve had the guy with the shock orange hair. The hermit with the scraggly beard. The gamer living with mom. The misogynist virgin. The disgruntled office worker. The Korean American college kid. The African American veteran.

Until Wednesdayís rampage at a holiday party in San Bernardino, Calif., the only thing we hadnít had was a woman picking up guns and slaughtering innocent people. But now police tell us we have a Muslim couple with a 6-month-old baby ó Syed Rizwan Farook and his Pakistani-born wife, Tashfeen Malik ó to add to the ranks of mass shooters and our countryís endless, exhausting gallery of gore.

With each of these rampage shootings ó weíve had more of them this year than weíve had days ó we try to pinpoint what triggered the violence. Itís the mental health system. Itís video games. Itís the recession. Itís religious fanaticism. Itís racial hatred.

Yes, these are all contributing factors. But the real common thread among these shooters is obvious: their access to guns.

1. Please expand on how you see it as the mental health system...

I do see barriers to people getting treatment--80% of Americans suffering mental disorders don't seek help-- but among the highest hurdles to cross are denial and refusal to seek help.

But I'd like to know what you thing the problem with the mental health system is.

2. Try reading the article. It puts the blame squarely on guns. n/t
