Keep in mind that John Boehner was too liberal for the baying hounds of the Tea Baggers in and out of Congress. They chased him out of office, and the only replacement even marginally acceptable to these demented bomb-throwing back-benchers was Paul Ryan. Ryan is now signaling his apostasy to the True Believer base by saying, in essence, that he's too good for the likes of Donald Trump and his supporters. He's trying to paper it over with some nonsense about party loyalty, but even the Tea Baggers are smart enough to see that Ryan is trying to scupper away from the Cleveland Steamer the convention is going to be.
