about how insurance companies have been ripping off people whose homes were destroyed in Hurricane Sandy? The insurance companies have been fraudulently changing engineering reports to state there was no damage when the engineers who actually inspected the property said there was damage.
The people are getting screwed again.

I have no doubt this Frontline will be more detailed, since Frontline usually is.

(10,708 posts)I went through something similar when we had a house fire, dealing with the insurance company for three years afterward. Its always best to remember they are corporations, designed to make a profit for their shareholders. Paying claims is the opposite of making a profit, so they avoid it and minimize it whenever possible, however friendly they might appear in their commercials. The main thing to keep in mind is that, in the end, you have a legally binding contract, and involving a lawyer (or the threat of a lawyer) usually leads to better behavior on their part.

(10,597 posts)It's a damn shame, isn't it? You make your payments, every year, on time, no late payments, cause you know if you don't they will cancel you within 24 yours. When the storm comes, the insurance companies are slower than molasses and sometimes never complete the process.
"Oh well, that's good ole Capitalism for you. We can just start all over again."
Did Christie ever get his citizens caught up yet after H.Sandy? When is someone going to tell HIM to sit down and shut up?
And no, I didn't catch it. Will look it up on PBS this weekend and watch it.
