John MCain is factually wrong.

It is my understanding that ISIS or ISIL are mostly composed of Sunni extremists. They were former members of Saddam's army and security and they had left the country when George W Bush and his allies, including John McCain, decided to dissolve the Iraqi Army. Those are the ones that became ISIS. They did not leave Iraq for Syria after Obama became President and withdrew the American troops (in an agreement negotiated by GWBush). They left Iraq when George W Bush was President and when John McCain was one of his biggest cheerleaders. Correct me if I am wrong.

<snip>

Republican Sen. John McCain blamed President Barack Obama for the deadly shooting in Orlando that killed 49 clubgoers. He said said the president is "directly responsible for it because" of his "utter failures" in Iraq.

"Barack Obama is directly responsible for it because when he pulled everybody out of Iraq, al Qaeda went to Syria and became ISIS and ISIS is what it is today thanks to Barack Obama's failures," McCain told reporters on Capitol Hill, according to audio obtained by NBC News.

"So the responsibility for it lies with President Barack Obama and his failed policies," McCain added.

Nothing that comes out of his mouth should be regarded with any credence at all. McCain disqualified himself from having a valid opinion on whether the sun rises in the east.

Psychological projection is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others. For example, a person who is habitually rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude. It incorporates blame shifting.

According to some research, the projection of one's unconscious qualities onto others is a common process in everyday life.

That former Iraqi military had years of experience fighting Iran. The US wanted no part of the officers in the new US/Iraqi military. Those guys were the reason why ISIS had so much success taking over cities and territory. They knew how to fight a war.
