At what point do you believe "buyer's remorse" will set in for the AVERAGE Trump voter?

Because I've gotta tell you, what's in the headlines today has not amounted to jack squat. The people I know who voted for Trump still think he's all about the working class and that he's already making America great again (they LOVED the one about how it is "OK" to say "Merry Christmas" again).

What will it take? The end of Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and anything else Paul Ryan defines as an "entitlement" program?

Tax cuts that add trillions to the deficit and funnel the majority of money to the 1%ers?

More "Carrier" deals in which taxpayers pay a bribe to keep a portion of a company's jobs in the U.S.?

The lack of a wall between the U.S. and Mexico?

No mass deportations?

No Muslim registry?

At what point will they say "This guy lied to me?"

Deficit and Debt are too abstract
Discrimination is not important to them
Corruption and foreign ties are too abstract
Even layoffs will only affect those who are laid off. or they blame it on all the "regulations".

Maybe Social Security retirement, SS Disability, Medicaid, Medicare, Food stamp cuts get some attention.

But truly, they seem to be members of a cult and might think that anything negative is the result of the cult's opponents, not the cult leader himself.

They like the idea of an infallible being/entity.

God is responsible for all that is good, moral and just. The fuck-ups? "THA'S MANKIND'S FAWLT!"

It's the same way with how Conservatives treat their heroes. Nothing (even if it blatantly is) can be tied back to them, and they are credited with all that is great. They credit Reagan/Bush Sr. for everything great that happened during Clinton's tenure. The fuck-ups? Clinton. Same with Bush. The media NEVER took him to task despite the country collapsing around him. The fuck-ups were "CLINTON'S CARELESSNESS AND LAX ATTENTION". They even went so far as to blame CARTER for the Housing Crisis . . . a man who had been out of office for nearly 30 years at that point.

I think doing in Social Security will dofor a lot of the anti-abortion fanatics. Not directly, of course; they'll still screech about "murdered babies" on the one hand even as they'll cheerfully continue to vote for politicians who constantly vote to close clinics that provide pre- and post-natal care. But one of the contradictions of the anti-abortion movement is that a LOT of their troops are retirees and depend on programs like Social Security and Medicaid to keep body and soul together. And the poor dears are about to receive an on-target "friendly fire" barrage from the Donald and their dear friends in the Republican Party.

Sun Dec 11, 2016, 03:12 PM
Dec 2016

Let's start with a question: If you were a Carrier employee in Indiana facing a pink slip would you give up your job in solidarity with the others that will have theirs offshored to Mexico?

Like it or not those 1000 workers are probably grateful to Trump and Pence for saving their job and will likely consider voting GOP from now on. This, madames et monsieurs, is what the Dems will be up against over the next 4-8 years.

All Trump has to do is convince companies to keep a few jobs here and the votes will keep coming.

Anecdotally when I talked to a friend in Indiana about the Carrier deal and how it only saved about half the jobs her response was "I don't remember Obama coming down here to try and save those jobs!"

This is the attitude we will have to change before we win back many of those Trump voters.
